Research Equipment
The Laboratory on Intelligent Robotics and Automation at the ENDIF department of the University of Ferrara is equipped with a PUMA 260 robotic manipulator, coupled to a specifically designed control system based on six ELMO Gold Solo Whistle drives and a PC communicating on EtherCAT high-speed fieldbus with the ELMO drives. A six axis Force/Torque sensor, developed by IIT (Italian Institute of Technology), is mounted on the end-effector of the PUMA robot, so that advanced force/interaction control algorithms can be fully implemented and tested. The laboratory is also equipped with hardware and software for experimenting on field PLCs (Rockwell Automation – CompactLogix, Schneider Electric - ELAU PacDrive, Siemens - S7-300).
