Seminario del Dr Gianmarco Manzini ricercatore presso Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico
Il Dr Gianmarco Manzini ricercatore presso Los Alamos National Laboratory, Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA, ha tenuto oggi presso l'aula 2 del Dipartimento di Ingegneria il seminario dal titolo
Conforming and Nonconforming Virtual Element Methods: from diffusion problems to eigenvalue problems.
Astract: We present the conforming and nonconforming Virtual Element Method (VEM) for the numerical treatment of elliptic problems such as Poisson, Stokes and the biharmonic equations. The VEM formulation works on very general unstructured meshes in 2D and 3D and arbitrary order of accuracy schemes can be easily designed and implemented. Originally devised for solving diffusion problems, the VEM has recently been extended to eigenvalue problems. A remarkable application in Computational Quantum Chemistry for the VEM that is currently underway at the Los Alamos National Laboratoryregards the Schrodinger equation. Numerical experiments verify the theoryand validate the performance of the proposed method.
